Child safety standards

Ekimeet does not tolerate child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This page says what is forbidden, how to tell us, what we do, and who answers for it.

What is forbidden

Anything that sexualises, exploits or endangers a child: child sexual abuse material of any kind (photos, video, drawings or text, real or generated), grooming (an adult building a sexual or secret relationship with a minor), sexual messages to or about a minor, and offering, asking for or linking to such material.

It is forbidden everywhere on Ekimeet: in chat, on cards, in posts, at events and in the rooms around them. The community rules apply too.

Who can use Ekimeet

You must be 16 or older. Children never get accounts. People who are 16 or 17 can message only people they matched with at an event and their own team, and can't have a public profile or public posts. An account found to belong to someone under 16 is deleted.

How to tell us

In the app: tap Report or block on the profile, message, post or event and choose “Child safety”. These reports are urgent: the Ekimeet team is alerted at once, and a message or post that two people report is hidden until a person has looked at it.

Without an account, or about something you saw on a public page: use the form for illegal content and choose “Child sexual abuse material”. You don't have to give your name or email.

Report illegal content

If a child is in danger right now, call the police on 112.

What we do

A person on the Ekimeet team handles every child-safety report, before other reports. Event organizers never decide these cases.

We remove the material and suspend the account, without the usual warning first.

We report child sexual abuse material and suspected abuse to the police: Kripos, Norway's national police unit for these crimes, or the police of the country concerned. We work with them as the law allows.

We never pass such material on to anyone else, and we never ask the person who reported it to send it to us.

The law

We follow the child protection laws of Norway, where Ekimeet is run, and of the European Union, including the Digital Services Act.

Child safety contact

Meisam Taheri (independent developer) is responsible for child safety at Ekimeet and answers for how we prevent and handle child sexual abuse and exploitation. Police and other authorities can write to the same address.
