About Ekimeet

Meet at the station

Ekimeet (駅前) is a professional network for researchers, engineers and students that grows through real events: conferences, game jams, seminars and meetups.

Why the name

駅前 (ekimae) means “in front of the station”. In Japan, that is where people agree to meet: everyone knows the way there, and it is where the trains come in.

“Meet” is also a railway word: a meet is where two trains pass each other at a station. Two people on their own lines, in the same place at the same time. That is what an event is, and Ekimeet helps them stop and say hello.

Why we are building it

Conferences, jams and seminars bring the right people to one place, but they are hard to find in the crowd, and most of what you start there fades the week after. Event apps are deleted when the event ends, and professional networks fill up with strangers, fake profiles and posts someone paid to push.

Ekimeet starts where real meetings happen. It helps you find the few people worth talking to that day, and keeps them after you go home. Your profile is your own and comes with you from one event to the next.

What it does

  • Join an event with the code on the poster or your badge, in your phone's browser. There is no app to install.
  • Get a few suggested people each day, each with a reason you can read. A conversation opens only when you both say yes; then chat and meet in a break.
  • Keep the people you met, with where you met, your private notes and follow-up reminders.
  • Find events in the events directory, jobs that state pay, working language and visa support up front, and coffee chats with people at labs and companies.

How it works, step by step

What we believe

These are rules the app enforces, not just promises.

  • Both say yes first

Nobody can message you or see your contact details until you have both said yes. Organizers can only send announcements.

  • Blocking works everywhere

If you block someone, you are invisible to each other: suggestions, lists, search, chat and the feed. They are not told.

  • No paid reach, no scores

Free for attendees, always. Nothing ranks higher because someone paid, and nobody gets a made-up score.

  • Your data is yours

Download everything or delete your account at any time. Suggestions change only what you see, never what others see about you.

  • Kept in Europe

Your data is stored on a server in Germany, with encrypted backups at a second European provider.

  • 16 and older

You need to be at least 16. People aged 16 and 17 can message only people they matched with at an event, and their own team.
