What's new

Changes worth knowing about, newest first. We don't send notifications or emails about them; a small dot on Me shows when there is something new.

  1. Privacy

    Choose who sees each post

When you post, you now choose who can see it: Connections (always the starting choice), People at my events (also people who were at an event with you), or Public. Each post shows its choice, and you can change it later from the post's ⋯ menu.

Public posts can be seen by anyone on the web and shown by search engines, with your name. They are only possible if you are 18 or older and your profile page is public. If you make your profile private again, your public posts go back to Connections. Narrowing a public post takes its page off the web at once; search engines drop it over time. Comments and likes stay with your connections, and blocking still hides everything both ways.

  2. Privacy

You'll hear when the rules or the privacy notice change

The community rules and the privacy notice now say when they last changed. If either changes, you'll see one short screen the next time you open Ekimeet, saying what changed. For the rules you choose "I agree". If you don't agree, you can export your data or delete your account; both always stay open.

This page is new too: changes worth knowing about are listed here. There are no push notifications or emails about them, only a small dot on Me. Planned maintenance is announced at the top of the page, with the times in your own time zone.

  3. Privacy

Organizers can add helpers for one event

An event's organizers can now add a co-organizer, a door team member or a moderator for that event only. Helpers see what their job needs at that event, such as the guest list at the door, and nothing from the organization's other events. Helpers are told when they are added or removed, and every change is recorded.

Event times now show in the event's own time zone, and say which zone when it isn't yours.

  4. Privacy

    "Got it" on important announcements

Organizers can ask people to confirm they've seen an important announcement, such as a room change. You'll see a "Got it" button under it. Organizers only see a total ("34 of 120 confirmed"), never who confirmed, and while fewer than 5 people were asked they see no count at all.

Your confirmations are in your data export and are removed with your account.

  5. Clearer emails, and help on each screen

Every email from Ekimeet now has the same simple layout and says why you got it. Digests, announcements and invitations have a one-click unsubscribe link.

Screens such as the door, Messages and your card have a "?" button that explains in a few short steps how the page works.
